TORONTO LANDSCAPE CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS

Spring and summer are busy seasons for the construction and landscaping industries. Earthco Soil Mixtures has been a proud supplier of materials for a number of exciting private and public projects set to open this summer.

FUSE CONDOMINIUMS

Fuse Condos is a two-tower development in Toronto's Davenport Village. The property features a spacious outdoor terrace which connects the two buildings.

Earthco Soil Mixtures delivered Blower Rooftop Mix on a slinger which fed the material into the Blower Truck. Rooftop Blower Mix is a special soil blend designed for the rooftop application. Its lightweight composition allows for the soil to travel several stories up through a long hose attached to the Blower Truck. A landscaper manually directs the end of the hose for proper application of the soil in the planter area. Rooftop Blower Mix is high in organic matter which helps promote the growth of plants and trees.

Brock Aggregates supplied HPB (High Performance Bedding) which will be used for drainage underneath the walkway on the terrace. This aggregate material is a crushed and washed limestone with fines removed. Just like the soil mix, HPB can be blown onto the 2nd and 3rd floor of the outdoor terrace using the Blower Truck Service.

Construction is expected to finish by mid- to late summer 2017.

ONTARIO PLACE

The new Urban Park and William G. Davis Trail mark the first phase of Ontario Place revitalization project. The grounds will offer great views of Lake Ontario and the Downtown Toronto skyline, and will feature trails, a garden, rocky beach and fire pit, a boardwalk, and an open-air pavilion.

Earthco Soil Mixtures supplied the planting soil for the park. This soil was tested environmentally and horticulturally prior to importation. The planting soil contains composted bark fines which help the young trees grow tall and healthy. Earthco also provided Sports Field Mix which has a sandier composition for more compaction.

Brock Aggregates supplied aggregates for the construction of pathways, including ¾ crush stone, 2” crush stone, and ¾ clear stone.

The park is set to open in June 2017, so make sure to visit it this summer!

GRANGE PARK

Located next to the Art Gallery of Ontario, Grange Park is a beautiful and historic green space that is part of Toronto’s revitalization project. Feature design elements included more trees, grass and flowers, new pathways, and an expanded playground area for kids.

Take a stroll in the revitalized park when it opens this June!
